Sriracha Cauliflower Poppers
Cauliflower is one of several vegetables looks like a big flower which is the same family of cabbage. The Cauliflower word is described from a Latin word caulis and flower. The caulis is nothing but cabbage. Both look similar but cauliflower is difficult to grow when comparing to cabbage due to few problems like poor curd quality (similar appearance to cheese curd) and underdeveloped head. Only the head is eaten i.e white flesh sometimes treated as “curd”. Cauliflower consists of small- creamy white flower buds with 77 % of daily value of vitamin C. 100 grams of raw white cauliflower provides 25 calories which is low in carbohydrates, fat, protein and dietary fiber. It also consists of thiamin, niacin, riboflavin, phosphorus, manganese, magnesium, pantothenic acid, folate, potassium, and rich in vitamin B6 and vitamin K.
There are four type of colors in cauliflower namely, White, Green, Purple and Orange. Once if you boil, it reduces the levels of its compounds. The loss will be of 20 – 30% after 5 minutes and finally to 75% after 30 minutes. It consists of numerous dietary minerals mainly manganese and several B vitamins. Oats consists of 66% carbohydrates, 17% of proteins, 11% of dietary fiber, 7% fat and 4% of beta-glucans. Beta-glucans is a kind of soluble fiber that reduces the cholesterol. The cholesterol lowering effects leads to acceptance of oats as a healthy food. The outer casing of the oat is known as Oat bran. The daily consumption of Oat bran reduces the risk of heart disease and cholesterol. Oat consists of legume or globulin such as Avenalin and protein as the major storage i.e. 80%. The Prolamine, Avenin is treated as its minor protein. The protein content of the hull-less oat kernel ranges from 12 to 24% i.e. highest among cereals. Its benefits are shown equal to milk, egg protein, and meat by World Health Organization.
Requirements
Cauliflower:
- Take a small head of cauliflower
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 3/4 cup of water
- 3/4 cup of oat flour
Sriracha Sauce:
- 1/2 cup of sriracha
- 1/2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup of water
- 1/4 cup of maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
Yogurt dipping sauce:
- 1 tablespoon of fresh chopped dill
- 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt
Procedure:
Heat the popper poppin in the oven to 450 Fahrenheit. Take cauliflower and remove the core and leaves of it. Keep it aside after cutting it into small florets. Take oat flour as well as water and start blending it till you get a smooth batter. Take a bowl and add the batter in it. Fully dip each and every cauliflower floret into the batter. After that take a parchment lined baking sheet and all those florets to it. Drizzle olive oil on the florets and bake it for 30 minutes.
While Coming to sauce, mix all the ingredients in a bowl with a spoon. Mix yogurt and dill in a bowl for yogurt dipping sauce and put aside. After cauliflower is done, dip floret lightly into the sauce you like. If you want to drizzle more on top of the florets, leave the remaining sriracha sauce and cooling dill yogurt sauce aside. So that you can enjoy the taste of florets.
