How does Facebook know that you are dead?

Your family or friends should inform that this person is dead or the facebook account is dead person’s account. Can they manage the Facebook account of the deceased person as a memorial?

Is that possible?

To manage your Facebook account after your death, your friend or your family does not need to know your Facebook ID and password. It can be done via Facebook Company’s Legacy Contact. You have to decide this legacy contact too.

How to set up a Legacy contact (Instructions)

1. Please log in to your Facebook account.

2. Click the arrow on the top right of the window, enter the settings.

3. On the left side menu, click the Security option.

Who needs to manage?

4. In the Security Settings list, you can find the option of the Legacy contact. Click on it.

5. Then, just type the name of any Facebook friend whom you want to manage your Facebook account.

What your friends or family members can do with Legacy contact feature?

(1) They can keep the deceased person’s account memorable.

(2) If they do not want to commemorate, they can delete the account.

Follow the same steps above, but instead of selecting a legacy contact, click on the Request Account Deletion link under the Legacy Contact section.
