ONAGOfly

The ONAGOfly is a smart nano drone that will follow you wherever you go. Actually, it follows the smartphone with the help of GPS via Wi-Fi connection. It features a 15-mp camera. You might have come across different types of drones in modern times, but perhaps you haven’t tried using this yet. This drone will follow you around through “smile recognition technology”.

The most common type of drone is an action sport or selfie type which is the white elephant in the UAS industry. But “follow me” action sports type of drones have one main flaw, i.e., obstacle avoidance. Yes! These drones aren’t aware of its environment (obstacles) enabling it. Some drones have the capability to locate the pilot through cell phone GPS or GPS wristband.

The ONAGOfly has 360-degree obstacle avoidance, but this works only when the drone is 6 inches away from the obstacle. This becomes a drawback if you are moving the drone fast. It has got the top speed of about 34 miles per hour.

There are several ways to control the ONAGOfly smart drone. You can either set it to automatically follow you around or can use some dedicated Android or iOS apps to get connected to the drone through Wi-Fi connection. It is designed mainly to snap aerial selfies or record 1080p at 30fps full-HD video while it follows you around in the air. The ONAGOfly will take pictures whenever if captures those pearly whites.

Besides this smile recognition feature, the ONAGOfly also has infrared technology that is always active during its flight. It uses this technology to avoid obstacles as it follows you around. The company claims that its battery life will get an average flight time of 15-minutes, which is about 30-percent longer than most nano drones that are already out in today’s market.

When it comes to its camera, the image stabilization feature is done digitally. This means that the camera will try to stabilize the image by eliminating some elements in the footage. Usually, this can be obtained by cropping the image or the video. Videos are recorded and stored in a memory card which is in the drone itself. However, users are still able to see a live video feed with their connected mobile device which allows for FPV (first person view) flying.

This drone is small in size (hand-full) and weighs only 140-grams. Since it is highly portable and light-weight, it can be placed inside a backpack easily. Its features also include instant take-off and landing which can be done by just switching ON a button. The app’s user interface is simple enough to understand that even beginners will find operating the device to be a simple task.

Controlling the ONAGOfly drone includes a tilt control mode that is found in some mobile racing games. In this mode, you will combine steering sensitivity and precision control using natural movements. This helps the users to create a classic and even an intuitive racing experience with the smart drone.
