Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s Quora account broken by Hackers
Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s Quora account has briefly overtaken by a hacker group also which enabled them to post on his twitter.
Hackers tweeted that they were just testing his security from Pichai’s account, indicating to a post on Quora they’ve created. Now they both accounts have been restored to normal, but to obtain a screenshot next wed was managed.
Quora is launched in 2010 and it is a Q&A community; affording to this Quora post by the site’s co-founder Adam D’Angelo, it had around 100 million monthly inimitable visitors as of March 2016.
OurMine is the hacker’s group and it appears to be same on one who just took control of Mark Zuckerberg’s Twitter and Pinterest accounts. But when Zuckerberg’s identifications were speciously found in the recent LinkedIn password dump, Pichai’s method of hacking Quora account is different. In a response to The Next Web, the hackers said they’ve essentially opened a susceptibility in Quora’s platform-one that Quora hasn’t fixed till now.
Change your Quora password, and remove your account from any other social services and if it might be connected, don’t use it on any other online services.
June 28, 2016, 9 a.m. CEST A Quora spokesperson told Mashable that the hackers likely never opened Quora. “We are confident that Sundar Pichai’s account was not accessed via a susceptibility in Quora’s systems. This is reliable with past reports where OurMine oppressed previous password leaks on other services to gain access to accounts on Facebook or Twitter. We also have no record of a report by OurMine directing to a susceptibility,” the spokesperson said.
The official website of OurMine positions the group as a security firm. Also said they never change anyone’s passwords, and that they’re all doing testing people’s security. Although their methods are cool to say they least, they’ve certainly been successful in taking control of some high profile social accounts, their current targets including Twitter co-founder Evan Williams in addition to musicians Deadmau5 and David Guetta.
