Check Out Early Versions And Updates Of Windows 10
Windows 10 shapes with new features and functionality than its previous versions. For this, Microsoft enlists the aid of people who are part of the Windows Insider Program. The Windows Insider Program is a free program. You can install early pre-release editions, or builds, of Windows 10 as Microsoft continues to update the OS since it can be installed for free. You’ll be able to check out and test potentially cool new stuff. You can also help Microsoft improve and update the OS by offering your feedback on each and every major change and minor tweak.
To work out all these, first, you need to join the Windows Insider Program.
To register, you’ll need a Microsoft account to register. In a case where you don’t have an account, click on the link at the sign-in page to create an account. Then follow the steps to generate one. Now, log in with your Microsoft username and password to sign-in to your Microsoft account.
If you’ve not already installed Windows 10 on your computer, follow the steps below. Otherwise, skip to the next section.
Installing Windows 10 :
Initially, there appears a “Welcome to the program, Insider” web page. Click on “PC” which indicates that you want to test the OS on a computer or laptop.
At the page entitled “Before you install Windows Insider Preview,” scroll down to the bottom and click on “Get Windows 10.”
Now click on the link “Download tool now” at the “Download Windows 10,” page.
Save and run the file called MediaCreationTool.exe. You’ll have a choice to either upgrade your current PC to Windows 10 or create installation media to install the OS on a different PC. Follow those steps for the installation.
Getting Started as a Windows Insider :
Speed up Windows 10 on your computer. Click on the Start button > Settings > Update & security > Windows Insider Program. On the right pane in the “Get Insider Preview builds” section, click on “Get started.”
A message pops up saying: “You will be installing pre-release software and services that might not be fully tested.” An additional text offers specific advice. If you’re satisfied with all the conditions to be a Windows Insider, click on the Next button.
Read the “Before you confirm” notice, and click on “Confirm” to continue.
After that, Windows prompts you to restart your PC. Click on “Restart Now”.
After the completion of Windows reboot, log in again and return to the Windows Insider Program screen. In the section, “Choose your Insider Level,” click on the drop-down menu and choose either Fast or Slow. If you select “Fast”, you’ll receive pre-release builds quicker but they may not be thoroughly tested. Selecting “Slow” won’t let you get the builds so fast but they’ll be tested completely.
Now, click on the link for “Windows Updates” and check if any new updates await. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait until the necessary pre-release builds are ready to be installed on your PC.
At the Windows Insider Program screen, click on the link to “Give us your feedback about this page.”
Here you can read feedback offered by other Windows Insider Program testers. You can also provide your own feedback. After you’ve tried out the latest pre-release build of Windows 10, you can click on the button to “add new feedback” if you have something to say.
Fill out the fields on the feedback form detailing your suggestion or problem. Then click on the “Submit” button. Your suggestion may be considered and pop up in the future version of Windows 10.
There is an option if you no longer want to be part of the Windows Insider Program. Click on “Stop insider preview builds” at the Get Insider Preview Build section. You can opt to stop the new builds either temporarily or permanently on the Windows 10 laptop or computer.
