We have already known about the Google previous releases, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL. Both these are a great and the first handsets designed by Google. These flagship manufactured by HTC with good-featured cameras with great quality and stock android software that’s in a high demand among the users. But both the flagships are not extremely perfect with their design, cost, and also they lack water resistance. These flaws are expected to overcome with the upcoming new flagship of the Google called Google Pixel 2.
The Google Pixel 2 has been rumored with a number of features that make the smartphone highly recommending. The upcoming Pixel generation smartphone is expected to release at the end of 2017. The smaller of the two is codenamed as Walleye, while XL variant is called as Muskie Moniker. whereas the third device is dubbed as Taimen and is expected to come in a larger size than the Pixel XL.
Anyways, Google is likely to release only two flagships this year. So only Walleye and Taimen will be announced this year. The former version will be the successor of the Pixel and the latter will be the largest version of the Pixel XL.
As said before, Google has joined with HTC to manufacture the Pixel and Pixel XL last year. And this time, it is rumored that Google is going to join up with LG for the manufacturing of the largest device of the two. This hasn’t been confirmed yet, so they can go with either of the companies.
Rumored release date:
There is no date been rumored about the Pixel 2 until now. But we can get an idea of the release date of the Pixel XL through the release date of its predecessor. For instance, Pixel and Pixel XL were announced to reveal in October and went on sale in the same month. More or less the next flagships may also probably be released in the same year. Once the two smartphones are revealed, their pre-order will start.
Rumored Specifications:
Both the Walleye (Pixel 2) and Taimen (Pixel XL 2) offer a high-end specification similar to their predecessor. The latest rumors say that the smallest of the two will sport a 4.97-inch display with full HD resolution. It will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 835 with 4GB RAM and an internal storage of 64GB.
Pixel 2 is said to feature two front-facing stereo speakers which come at the cost of a 3.5mm headphone jack. This allows you to plug-in the headphones with the help of an adapter. The Pixel 2 won’t feature a dual camera set up on the back of it. But usually, users expect a great camera to sport with this flagship.
The Pixel XL 2 is rumored to be water and dust resistant being expected to be either IP67 or IP68 which can submerge in 1 to 1.5 meters of water for a period of about 30 minutes. This flagship is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4GB RAM and a storage of 128GB as internal storage. The difference found with both the flagship is only the screen size since the Pixel XL 2 is rumored to sport a 6-inches QHD AMOLED display. The smartphone might come with an Always-on Ambient Display mode.
The software for both the smartphones will be the Android O, which will make its debut on both the devices.
Rumored Design:
The design of Pixel and Pixel XL hasn’t reached much among the customers. And if you are one among the customers who don’t like the design of these two smartphones, then this may be a bad news. The Pixel 2 is rumored to come with the same old design of its predecessor with just a few changes. You can look for the same metal body, slightly large bezels with front-facing stereo speakers (as already mentioned).
The design at the back of the Pixel 2 is almost the same as the Pixel XL 2 with the front panel with thick top and bottom bezels. But we can find quite a difference between the Pixel and the Pixel 2 that they both highly vary in their design and specs. The two may be expected to look identical on the back but the front of the smartphones are quite different with each other.
The new releasing smartphone should feature small bezels around the screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio. But the Pixel XL 2 will be a lot more compact when compared to the other two smartphones. This makes the device easy-to-use as well as to handle the device.
Rumored Price:
The Google Pixel was released for Rs.41,599 ($649) – 32 GB and Rs.48,009 ($749) – 128GB. Whereas the Pixel XL was launched for Rs.49,289 ($769) – 32GB and Rs.55,699 ($869) – 128GB. And by having known the prices of these smartphones, we expect the upcoming flagship to be a little more affordable. But not exactly is going to happen. The price tag of the Google Pixel 2 may be either the same or just a little more than its predecessors.
But to have a great demand and sale, Google has to decrease its price apart from the specifications and design that it features. Lowering the price may increase the number of customers and users of the Google Pixel 2 and also can make it more competitive on the market.
