Chromebooks can take part in voice calls now by using Microsoft’s Skype for the web. Microsoft didn’t announce publicly this new feature, but it is working at present . This feature also now works on Linux

Skype for The Web just works

This feature should “just work”. It is head for the Skype for Web Website, Log in with Your Skype account, and select the voice call button for one your Skype contacts. Chrome asks that you wished to share your microphone with Skype.  Agree and the call goes on normally, just like it would via the desktop PC or phone for a Skype client application. Now it will use standards –based web technologies instead of plugins initially required on windows.

While audio calls keep on working well, the video features do not yet seem to be working on chrome OS. Skype is already offered web solid text-messaging support for Chromebook users.

This new feature is a benefit for Chromebook users who locate their skype calls and Linux users who are bad of Microsoft’s Crumbling Skype for Linux application

Skype’s Android app is still an option

 

Chromebook is presently using another procedure to run Skype. They can install the Skype Android app. unfortunately; Android app support is at present in beta and will primarily be restricted to a small number of Chromebooks.

If you really want to be video calls on Chrome OS and can’t wait until you install the Skype Android app via Google’s ARC Welder application.
