Leadership is about setting direction and ensuring that it is followed. Leading can apply to leading oneself, other individuals, groups, and organizations. Leading can make or break an organization. The nature of how leading can be done depends on the context of the situation, on one’s perspective and on the nature and needs of those involved. Let’s see some of the qualities of great leaders.

1. They Imagine the Future

Effective leadership needs a good vision. They know what they do and where they are now. That requires significant knowledge of their profession. They should be able to imagine what is going to happen in the future. They should have the confidence to judge all the people equally.
For setting an educational change, Effective leadership requires a vision. That is not easy to keep in practice. To do that effectively, you have to understand both the role of educational change and purpose of leadership.

2. They Manage Change

Great leaders understand that change is inevitable and the struggle for it is useless. Instead, they expect the changes that are coming and they make plans in advance to address them. When some of the team members are opposed to change, then the leader cannot support a positive organizational culture and encourage an environment of professional inquiry.
So to become a great leader they should have great leadership qualities such as to guide, support and influence the people in their team. They should have strong communication skills so that they can encourage the team through change- even if there is conflict.

3. They Create Positive Culture

Effective leaders strive for a good workplace culture. They must understand that a worker spends an about 3/4th of their day in the workplace. Workers must be happy for the organization to get a good output. Unhappy workplaces are also unproductive workplaces. So that leader plans to give a good workplace environment for the people.

4. They Collaborate Successfully

Collaboration is a significant tool which allows all the people to be united. But many people fail to get it because they don’t understand the structure and processes involved in the organization. It is important to know that some structures are better suited to achieve certain outcomes.
It’s also significant that leaders take their people on the collaborative journey since, without their support and interest, the collaboration will not succeed.

5. They use the Parenting Style

If a person has the leadership position then he should have to control the people and “be the boss” but that style of leadership is not supported by anyone.They are expected to be more like parents. You have to encourage people with positive feedback and make people do what you want by motivating them. More than ever you have to believe in yourself.
