You might own the Galaxy S8. It’s not that everyone who owns this device is completely aware of the tricks and hidden features of Galaxy S8 and S8+ and are completely known with its operation. There are users who are unaware of the tricks for operating a smartphone. For those, here are some of the tricks and hidden features of Galaxy S8 and S8+ that you should know.
1. Remap Bixby Button:
Bixby, as it is now, is almost a kind of less useful. It makes the dedicated hardware button pointless. Thanks to the “BixBye app”. This app allows the Bixby button to remap everything to launch whatever you want it to.
2. Use separate app sounds:
Mostly music lovers listen to the songs in the maximum volume which their device is provided with. If they are listening to music on Bluetooth speakers, an incoming text message or a call tone will definitely blast its sound through the Bluetooth speakers. So, they don’t want them to get irritated with the sounds of the message or call. 4. Enable download booster for faster download speed:
Samsung includes a Download Booster feature in the S8 and S8+ that effectively does the same thing, except that it uses your WiFi and LTE connections at the same time to increase downloading speed. Follow the steps to enable Download Booster.
- Go to “Settings”
- Select the “Connections” in that.
- Tap on “More Connection Settings”
- Enable the toggle switch for Download Booster. You can now see a speed Internet connection for downloading anything on your phone.
5. Enable dual audio for Bluetooth Devices:
The S8 and S8+ are the first smartphones with support for Bluetooth 5.0. With this feature, the S8 and S8+ can stream music to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously. There may be a slight lag between the two devices. But the best thing is two people can simultaneously enjoy wireless music over Bluetooth. How this be enabled on Galaxy S8 and S8+.
- Go to “Settings” and tap on “Connections” in that.
- Then select “Bluetooth” under the connections.
- Enable the Bluetooth connection.
- Now click on the three-dot menu button. Here tap on “Dual Audio” and enable it. Now you can enjoy listening to music on two Bluetooth devices at the same time.
6. Hide Apps:
Everyone won’t be interested in hidings apps. Because not everyone needs privacy or has confidential matters in their smartphones. For those who wants to hide apps, Galaxy S8 and S8+ have the feature. There is no need to rely on any third-party apps like app lockers to get this done. But a few steps to be done to hide your apps on your smartphone.
- Swipe up from the home screen to open the App Drawer. Then tap on the three-dot menu button on the top right. Here, tap on “Settings”
- Then tap on “Hide Apps”. Now select all the apps you wish to hide and click on “Apply”.
7. Remove Icon Frames:
The S8 and S8+ both use squircle icons all over the user interface. This means that apps that do not have squircle icons, get their icons resized and fit into white squircles. This is to match the theme of the rest of the phone. While this does look uniform, it tends to make the icons look bad. It might happen that some may not like those icons. - Go to “Settings” and then to “Display Settings”.
- Now tap on “Icon Frames”.
- Under that select “icons only”, and tap on “Done”. The S8 will switch over from using squircle icons with white frames to normal app icons instead.
8. Secure Folder:
Secure Folder is a new feature added to the S8 and S8+. What exactly is the use of secure folder? Secure Folder helps you keep your personal data safe inside a folder. And that folder can be accessed only by entering the PIN, scanning your fingerprint, or through the iris scanner. With this, you can create two separate spaces for the same app. One that anyone with access to your phone can see and the other will be inside the Secure Folder. The pictures that were taken with the camera app inside the secure folder will be saved to the Gallery. But they won’t be visible outside the secure folder.
Also, if you have pictures in your gallery that you want to secure, you can move them from the regular gallery to the one inside the Secure Folder. This will effectively protect them from unauthorized access.
9. Edit Edge Panels and Add More:
The Galaxy S8 and S8+ come with curved screens, and so there is no flat screen option anymore. Even if you didn’t like the curved screen design, and you haven’t been a user of edge panels, it’s likely that you begin to like it. Edge panels are quite useful and perform a lot of operations with ease. Follow the steps below to edit Edge Panels, and to add more panels.
- Go to “Settings” and tap on “Display”.
- Click on “Edge Screen” and then tap on “Edge panels”.
- In the screen that appears, you can easily enable or disable the pre-loaded Edge panels that come with the S8 and S8+. To find out some more Edge panels, simply tap on the “Download” button on the top right. This will add more Edge panels for your phone.
10. Create Custom Battery Saving Profiles:
The Galaxy S8 and S8+ have an average battery life. Fortunately, Samsung includes a pretty decent battery management tool in both of these S8 and S8+. For this
- Go to “Settings” and tap on “Device Maintenance”
- Then click on “Battery”.
Now, you can see the battery saver modes that are preset. These modes simply tweak some settings and switch off a few additional things to extend the battery life of your smartphone. However, you can even create custom Battery Saving profiles on your smartphone. Simply follow the steps below:
- Just tap on any of the preset battery saving profiles, and then tap on “Customise”.
- Now you can adjust all the settings that the profile was adjusting itself. You can adjust how the profile tweaks the settings on your Galaxy S8 or S8+, to suit your needs while still getting the maximum battery life out of your device.
