Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+

Samsung S8 and S8 plus

The Samsung Galaxy S6, introduced in 2015, brought up the company’s industrial design. Followed by 2016’s Samsung Galaxy S7 which refined the Galaxy S6’s refinement. And it’s time for Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. In general, anyone would expect an improvement in the specifications of the previous version or its operation. Instead of adding more refinements to the top ones, these two new models have got its new challenges. These have increased their display sizes to combining AI, voice control, and machine vision into a single experience. This design sets the phone apart from other Android phones and iPhone.

Design and Display:

The most obvious thing about the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ phones is that they’ve got big screens. These phones are essentially the same phones in two different sizes. Their sizes are 5.8-inches and 6.2-inches respectively. The users will find these phone uncomfortably large in their hands. In fact, its screen has extended to both the sides (left and right) of the phone. And hence they look like bezel-less phones.

The S8 is slightly narrower than its previous S7. This feature makes it easier to grip and hold. The S8+ is narrower than the iPhone 7 Plus, despite having more display space. They’re big phones, but not monsters.

And this time, there is no home button in the S8 and S8+. As the previous versions had a fingerprint scanner to unlock the phone on the home button, now it’s on its back. The fingerprint scanner on the backside of the phones doesn’t seem much comfortable than the other Galaxy models. It’s not that there isn’t a home button for these. A home button is there but a virtual one which wasn’t found on any other Samsung phones. This home button is given with a vibration for the users to feel the sense of its touch.

Camera:

One of the most important features that everyone would look for in a smartphone is the camera. And this time Samsung uses the system similar to the Google’s Pixel. It used several images to create a noise-free final shot. This changes the way that camera handled low light. This is what which is now brought into the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+.

And the videos being shot will result in excellence. Don’t know if the Samsung’s S8 and S8+ would give the same result as the Google’s Pixel. But the first impression gives the best result of both the phones. The 12MP rear camera and the 8MP front camera are so accurate and fast that won’t let you down day or night.

Bixby:

Samsung Galaxy S8 Bixby

Bixby completely changes the way you interact with your phone. It’s a personal assistant that understands voice, text, and taps. This will help you not to be confined to one mode of communication. Also, it completely changes the way you search. Just open your camera app and show Bixby what you want. It’s that easy.

In Bixby, the phone can spot certain trends in some apps. The example given by Samsung was using Uber every day and the phone then prompting you the next day with information about Uber availability and will let you re-book.

Processor and Memory:

Both the Samsung S8 series are powered by the Samsung Exynos 8895 Octa 2.3GHz speed. The devices are paired with 4GB of RAM with 16GB internal storage. This supports an expandable storage with up to 256GB using a microSD card. These are the first in the smartphones to provide 1GB LTE speed.

Security:

There are a facial recognition and an Iris scanner which are added for the security of the mobile. The Iris scanner in the mobile will keep your device safer. Because there are no two iris which have the same pattern. Moreover, it’s impossible to replicate them. The fingerprint scanner is moved to the back of the mobile since the mobile is not designed to have a home button. And this doesn’t at all seems to be a problem for unlocking the phone as the fingerprint scanner has shifted its placement.

Battery Life:

The battery capacity of both the S8 is 3000mAh and since the screen resolution of the S8+ is a bit larger, it is 3500mAh. But this won’t be enough for a smartphone of this range which has big screens. There is a battery saving mode which you can enable to save the battery charge. This mode isn’t a new addition to this model but helps to not get your mobile battery drain down soon.

Performance:

The overall performance of these devices won’t differ more than its previous versions. And these phones are dust and water resistant which will help you use in whichever weather condition you are. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are driven by world’s first 10nm processors. The performance won’t let you down with the 3000mAh and 3500mAh batteries respectively.

The integrated USB Type-C port supports the 3.1 transfer standard. There is are a few new accessories included to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. DeX is one of the accessories which is a docking system that allows the users to enjoy a desktop experience with these phones. The Dex will help in connected a keyboard, mouse and a monitor with these Android devices.

Conclusion:

Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are almost the same in design, features, and performance except that they differ in sizes. S8 is 5.8-inches and S8+ is 6.2-inches. Both of them are designed with a bezel-less body which extends their screen resolution. This itself will impress you in all the ways to use them.
