There’s information on nearly every aspect of both the devices. So if you’re looking to make an upgrade this year or switch to either Android or iOS, take a look below. We’ve compiled everything that we expect on both the Galaxy Note 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. Both the devices have almost leaked in their entirety up until now apart from images of running prototypes, and judging by the rate things have been progressing. we might see those pop up as well.

Design :

We see that both the Note 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus haven’t come with any major design upgrades this year. Renders and schematics for a pair have surfaced with regularity online. While looking at them, we get a fair idea of what to expect.

We’ll be getting a dual edged display this year. However, which should attract a lot of users. The front of the Galaxy Note 7 is almost identical to that of the Note 5. But a front-facing flash and a new sensor are added as additional.

No other changes have surfaced so far when it comes to bottom, top, and sides of the device. The Note 7 will rely on improved hardware and performance specifications to make its mark in the market. The rear of the device comes with some changes, though, Samsung incorporates a larger camera sensor. And it made changes to the Note 7’s flash.

Coming to the iPhone 7 Plus, in terms of  design, Cupertino’s flagship smartphone is quite different from its predecessor. Not only the iPhone 7 Plus has a dual camera on its rear, changing the device’s design by quite a bit. But we’re also expecting new build materials and changed positions for the antenna bands, as Apple gears to launch the 10th generation of the iPhone this year.

While the iPhone 7 Plus keeps a similar form when compared to the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6s Plus, the device won’t be similar in all aspects. In addition to the relocated antenna bands, the device will also most likely come without a 3.5mm earphone jack. Even Apple looks to make the official move towards Bluetooth and lightning supported headgear. The Note 7 will be the larger of the two devices, and we’ll have to see what build materials Apple and Samsung choose for the devices, as it’ll most likely have the largest impact on design.

Multimedia :

While talking about the dual camera on the iPhone 7 Plus, the main question that arises in one’s mind is what resolutions will Apple be choosing to equip its flagship smartphone with this year. A dual camera upgrade on a smartphone is quite a change after all. And Apple’s expected to use LG’s camera sensors for the iPhone 7 Plus. So we’d expect the secondary sensor to have a resolution in the range of 8MP and the larger to see resolutions of either 12MP or an upgrade of 16MP.

The display is another feature that has managed to become an issue on the iPhone. Mainly because Apple’s been stubbornly keeping constant resolutions on its smartphone for some time. However, taking a look at some of the statements by the company’s display supplier, Japan Display, the iPhone 7 Plus just might come with increased display resolutions now.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has also surfaced with its fair share of multimedia upgrades. For starters, the phablet from Samsung has a 5.8-inch screen with 2560×1440 resolution. The device’s 5.8 AMOLED screen will also be Slim RGB. This allows it to produce more crisp results when compared to the Note 5. Rear camera resolution for the Note 7 currently stands at 12MP with the device.

Storage specifications for the iPhone 7 Plus start from a base capacity of 32GB as Apple is eliminating 16GB from its portfolio. On the other hand, the Samsung Note 7 has 64 and 128GB of internal storage with a Micro SD expansion.

Battery specifications for the iPhone 7 Plus include slight upgrades from its predecessor, with a 7.04whr power packed for the device. Whereas the Note 7 features a massive 4000mAh battery. This should tend to give Samsung a lot of room to introduce high power features on the device.

Performance  :

Performance and hardware are the domains where the Galaxy Note 7 has seen more information than the iPhone 7 Plus. Samsung’s phablet features with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821. It is a chipset that’ll end up building what the company has achieved with the Snapdragon 820 and its custom Kryo cores. We’re expecting Qualcomm’s Kryo II cores on the Snapdragon 821 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. This comes with 1.6x times the transistors of the company’s current Kryo cores on the 820. And it effectively speeds up execution times and reduces power consumption simultaneously.

In addition to this, the Snapdragon 821 is also featured as lower clocked Kryo cores. The clock speed decreases from 2.3GHz to 1.7GHz. There are also two sets of Kryo cores on the processor, clocked at 1.6 and 2.2 GHz respectively.

The Note 7 is also featured with 10nm 6GB DRAM as Samsung recently announced said modules in China. These, combined with a 4000mAh battery should equip the Note 7 with adequate performance specifications capable of beating any other flagship device in the market. On the iPhone 7 Plus we’re expecting the Apple A10, which has seen very limited information surface so far. It’s not only the majority of A10 chips are manufactured by TSMC but they came with an Integrated Fan-Out design. This design increases the contact area between the PCB and the chip. And results in up to 20% performance gains combined with up to 1nm of space savings.
