Apple’s WWDC centerpiece presentation for us was iOS 11, and it didn’t disappoint. The latest iteration of the tech giant’s venerable mobile operating system has been partly redesigned. It comes with a ton of new features that its users were only able to dream about in previous versions. One of those new features is native screen recording.

Fully revamped Control Center and App Store major enhancements were in the forefront during iOS 11’s introduction. Many smaller but still significant improvements didn’t get as much attention as they deserved. Especially iOS 11’s native Screen Recording tool.

The native screen recording importance is arriving for the iPhone cannot be understated. Recording your iPhone’s screen on previous iOS versions either relied on paid third-party apps such as frustrating side loaded apps, glitchy jailbreak tweaks, or a laborious process requiring your Mac computer.

Tap on the Screen Recording option, or long press or 3D Touch on it and press “Stop Recording.” You can alternatively click on the blue recording indicator in the status bar to stop it. All apps doesn’t show the status bar that to especially in games.

You will get a notification that you can click on to quickly view the video in the Photos application once you stop recording.

Simply select the editing icon next to the trash bin to edit your video. Just click and hold on one of the black arrows on either side of the frame viewer, and move it inward to trim your video. The yellow cropping indicator shows up to help you see better. By tapping on the play button in the bottom center, you can preview the video anytime.

Select “Save as New Clip” by clicking on “Done” in the bottom right to save it, once if you are satisfied with the video’s length. You don’t have to worry about losing the original screen recording as this won’t overwrite the current clip.

Obviously, the iPhone’s screen recording feature needs further polish before it’s released in the wild as iOS 11 is still in its beta stages. One tweak we would like for Apple to apply would be for the Control Center to exit automatically once Screen Recording is started.
