Meizu MX6

Meizu MX6

Meizu MX6 hit the shelves in July and has been spicing up the rich Android lineup the company has built over the past year. The MX6 is a sequel to the highly popular MX5. It offers some long-awaited upgrades to the series. That is a better processor with high-speed cores and faster LTE connectivity.

The MX6 inherits a lot from its predecessor naturally such as the aluminum unibody. But it also takes inspiration from its newer siblings just like the Pro 6. It’s new subtle antenna bands. The iconic mTouch key sits right below the 5.5 phablet-friendly screen that is now covered with a trendy 2.5D polished glass.

The MX6 has a lot going on indeed. We want to accent on the new Sony IMX386 12MP camera with wide aperture f/2.0 and phase-detection autofocus. The bigger pixels and newer sensor should boost the overall image quality while it downgrades the camera resolution.

Here comes the full list of features.

Meizu MX6 has a few holdups. But we have seen those being forgiven in some even pricier smartphones already. There is a whole different picture when you put the MX6 next to its MX5 sibling while it seems such as a champ.

It is the successor of the last year model which has been launched recently in the market. Comparing the specs with the last year it has improved in many categories. The price is still decent and it’s giving a tough competition in the segment. Let’s talk about the Meizu MX6 pros and cons. Kindly note that I have discussed the Meizu MX6 review in terms of the facts and facts only.

Pros :

  • The large 5.5-inch display has a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. It has a pixel density of 401 PPI (pixels per inch).
  • The thickness of the device is of only 7.25 mm which is very very thin. However, the display has a curved 5D Glass which provides an aesthetic look to the design.
  • Now let’s move on to the engine which is powered by a MediaTek MT6797 Helio X20. The processor has 10 cores. It’s insanely fast which can clock up to a speed of 2.3 GHz.

  • Meizu MX6 pros are that for gaming it is powered by Mali-T880 MP4 which is the top GPU of Mali 800 series. And boy its buttery smooth, even with extremely high-end games.
  • The 4GB of RAM for multitasking is more than enough to do anything on the device which is another pros.
  • From Sony, the camera is a 12-megapixel sensor. It is a CMOS sensor that focuses the subject very very fast. The auto-focusing speed is comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
  • Another Meizu MX6 pros are the primary camera that records videos in 4K at 2160p resolution.
  • The operating system is the latest version of Android Marshmallow. Additionally, there it is highly likely that you can get Android 7.0 Nougat.
  • It has an internal memory of 32 GB and out of it has more than 26 GB left for the user.
  • It consists of a USB Type-C 1.0 reversible connector. And yes it supports USB OTG cable.
  • It supports fast battery charging technology that can fully charge within 75 minutes. It supports up to 24-watt power adapter.

  • Next Meizu MX6 pros are that the entire body is made out of very high-grade aluminum.
  • The fingerprint sensor below the display recognizes very fast at 0.2 seconds. Additionally, it can read the fingerprint from all sides, that is 360 degrees.
  • Main sensors include gyroscope, proximity, accelerometer, compass, hall effect, gravity, and ambient light sensor.

Cons :

  • The absence of a microSD card
  • The next Meizu MX6 cons are that the 3060 mAh battery is definitely not enough if you are an avid user. To be real it hardly lasts a day. But charging fast saves your time a bit.
  • The user interface Flyme UI is not a smooth looking one. However, it is not a buggy or laggy one but simply saying “the design is not a good one”.
  • The Meizu MX6 SAR Values hasn’t been revealed by the manufacturer which is another cons. Follow this link for a way to reduce radiations for any mobile.
  • It doesn’t have an infrared sensor for IR Blaster. It is very crucial for wireless control of AC, TV etc.
  • Another con is that there are no dedicated navigational touch buttons below the screen.
