Manual Methods Using Windows

1. Drag and Drop :

The drag-and-drop is the easiest way to transfer photos between devices. This method requires a PC and USB cables for both the iPhone and Android to connect them to the PC. Make sure that you’ve installed the device drivers for both phones so that they will be detected by your PC.

Follow the below steps to start the Drag-and-Drop process for transferring photos

  1. Connect the iPhone to your PC via USB cable. Likewise, connect the Android phone via another USB cable to your PC.
  2. Open My Computer on your Windows PC.
  3. You should be able to see two new drives or entries under Portable Devices. One is for the iPhone storage and the other is for Android. If you don’t see them, try installing the phone drivers.
  4. Open the iPhone’s storage and Android’s storage in separate new windows.
  5. On the window for the iPhone’s storage, locate the folder named DCIM. You will find the photo folders inside the DCIM folder.
  6. Simply select the photos that you want to transfer. Then, drag them from the iPhone images folder and drop them onto the Android images folder.

2.Importing :

In this method, you can simply transfer all the images from iPhone to your PC and then from PC to Android. The following steps show the process of importing.

  1. Connect the iPhone to the computer.
  2. Open My Computer and right click on the iPhone’s storage under Portable Devices.
  3. From the drop-down, select Import pictures and videos.
  4. Your computer will scan the iPhone for images.
  5. Once done, click on Import to import all images and videos to your computer. Your images will be transferred to your computer’s My Pictures folder by default.
  6. Now connect the Android to your PC via USB cable.
  7. Open the My Pictures folder on your PC.
  8. Open the Android device’s storage and navigate to the image folder. It is usually labeled DCIM.
  9. Copy-and-paste or drag-and-drop the imported photos from your PC to the Android device.

Using Google Photos

  1. Download Google Photos from the App Store.
  2. Launch Google Photos from your Home screen.
  3. Tap Get started.
  4. Tap OK when asked to allow Google Photos to access your photos.
  5. Tap the switch next to Use cellular data to back up if you want to back up your photos over cellular. If you don’t want to rack up a serious data bill, leave this off.
  6. Click on Continue.
  7. Select the circle next to either High quality or Original. Tapping High quality will compress your photos to 16 megapixels reduce file size, but you get “unlimited storage” (2PB). Original will maintain the original file size and will count toward your Google Drive storage (15GB).
  8. Tap Continue.
  9. Tap Get notified if you want notifications when someone shares photos with you. Otherwise, tap No thanks.
  10. Tap Leave Off to leave notifications off if you selected No thanks.

Using Send Anywhere App

There are Apps available to help you transfer photos and images between devices. The Send Anywhere app is a file transfer app which is free for both iPhone and Android. This app allows wireless transfer of files from iPhone to Android and vice-versa.

To transfer files, both the devices must have Send Anywhere App installed in them and also there should be an internet connection for both the mobiles.

Following are the steps to transfer photos and images :

  1. Run Send Anywhere on the iPhone.
  2. Tap on Send button.
  3. From the list of file types, select Photo. Select the photos that you want to send. You’ll see check marks at the bottom-right of the selected photos’ thumbnails.
  4. Tap the Send button at the bottom after selecting the photos.
  5. The app will generate a PIN and a QR code image for the receiver. These authorization credentials will expire after 10 minutes, so make sure that the receiver device gets the file within that time period. Or, if you want to share the file(s) to multiple recipients for a longer time, upload the file(s) by tapping on the Upload button. This option will also generate a PIN, QR code, and a Web URL that is valid for use by the receiver(s) within 24 hours.
  6. On the Android phone, while running the Send Anywhere app, tap the Receive button on the main screen.
  7. To receive the file(s), enter the PIN and tap the arrow button or scan the QR code generated by the iPhone. Or, if the sender shared the Web URL of the file, open the URL in a Web browser.

The above are different ways in which you can transfer photos, images and file(s) from an iPhone to an Android device.
