Make Your Contact Number Appear As A Private Number

private number

Sometimes when you wish to hide your mobile phone contact number appearing from the caller ID, you can. But how this can be done. Making your contact number displayed on others’ mobile phone as a private number, do you this could be possible? Yes! Of course, and with ease too. You can block your caller ID information so that your number does not appear on the recipient’s phone.

We don’t want our personal mobile phone number to be revealed to others. Or sometimes we may wish to play a prank with our friends. It would be better if our contact number is being displayed on the recipient’s mobile as a private number. This will look like a perfect prank. They would never know, who is calling unless you yourself open it up.

We can do this by using a special prefix or by using the features of the device. Go through the following steps to make your contact number be displayed as a private number on the recipient’s phone.

1. Using Caller ID blocking Prefix:

It’s just that you need to add a prefix before the mobile number you are dialing to contact the recipient. The prefix is just a code with a combination of two or three numbers and symbols. The code varies depending on the country and the service providers. And all countries don’t have the prefix codes to get their numbers displayed as a private number.

Here are a few caller ID blocking prefix for some countries. You have to dial a particular prefix code for the respected country, followed by the contact number of the recipient.

For instance, you are in India and want to call 9876543210. Then you can dial to *31#9876543210 and make a call.

  • Albania, Australia, Denmark, Greece, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway: #31#
  • Argentina, Iceland, Switzerland, South Africa: *31*
  • Australia: 1831 or #31#
  • Germany: *31# or #31#
  • Hong Kong: 133
  • India: *31# (This will work only when enabled by the network)
  • Japan: 184
  • New Zealand: 0197 (Telecom) or *67 (Vodafone)
  • North America: *67 or #31#
  • UK and Ireland: 141.

Only a few countries are mentioned here and if your country is not on the list, chances are that you can dial *67 or #31#. Note that most of the GSM networks work with #31# to get this done.

2. Hiding through your device settings:

Also, you can hide your number from being displayed on the recipient’s device. This can be achieved through your device settings. It’s not so hard to block the caller ID information. Follow the below with respect to your operating system on your smartphone.

  • iPhone – Open the Settings app, tap Phone, tap Show My Caller ID, and then toggle the slider to ON.
  • Android 4.0 and earlier – Open the Settings app, tap Call, tap “Additional settings”, tap Caller ID, and then tap “Hide number”.
  • Android 4.1 and later – Open the Phone app, tap the Menu button, tap “Call settings”, tap Caller ID, tap “Hide number”.
  • Windows Phone 8 – Open the Phone app, tap the More button (…), tap on “Settings”, tap the box under “Show my caller ID to”, tap “no one” or “my contacts”.
  • BlackBerry – Press the Menu key, click Options, click General Options, find the “Restrict My Identity” field, set it to “Always”.

If you find this method is not working on your device, then you need to try making your contact number appear as a private number only through the first method. There isn’t any other option to get this done.
